Pawleys Island’s Jeremy Pope has reached a milestone in his professional golf career. The 35-year-old currently ranks as the top-earning golfer in the Gateway Tour, leading by almost $4,000 over the next in line, Brian Kontak. Pope has been competing professionally for over 10 years, and is right on the verge of reaching the next level of the sport in either the PGA or Nationwide. In 1999, Pope didn’t make the cut in his only PGA event, but has evolved his attitude over the years from seeing golf as a career, rather than a dream job---hence putting much more focus, time and determination into his game. Since his wife still lives here, the pro returns to play Myrtle Beach golf courses frequently, using the time as warm-ups for other tournaments.
