Wild Wing Avocet Plantation

Larry Nelson, two- time PGA Champion and 1983 US Open Winner, and Jeff Brauer designed The Avocet as a signature course. Each hole is memorable for its enjoyment, aesthetics, and playability.

The Avocet opens with the Moguls, a simple hole that replaces standard sand hazards with grass depressions. Some consider the 9th hole, Valley of Sin to be the course’s signature hole. It features a double fairway, both just under 30 yards wide. The front left re-creates the Valley of Sin at St. Andrews in which golfers must come directly over or face a unique putt.

The course encompasses 1,050 acres of natural beauty rarely found. A feeling of serenity exists where nature seems undisturbed by the masterfully sculpted fairways which gently blend with the trees, waterways, and wildlife.

The South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association named The Avocet South Carolina's 2002-2003 Golf Course of the Year.
